Santa Monica Boulevard Community Charter School (SMBCCS) was granted initial accreditation by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) in May 2010. The 2012 SMBCCS charter petition was written to align the Expected Schoolwide Learner Results (ESLRS) with the Fenton Charter Public School (FCPS) goals. Due to the divestiture of SMBCCS to FCPS, a WASC Substantive Change Visit was conducted in October 2012.
In October 2012, the WASC Substantive Change Committee reported that the substantive change had a positive impact on the ability of the school to meet the needs of our children. Since the 2012 WASC Visit, SMBCCS staff, students, parents and stakeholders continue to coalesce behind best practices to transform SMBCCS.
SMBCCS eagerly anticipates the WASC self-study process in the Spring of 2014 to showcase how we use our teaching and learning as a catalyst to ignite new learnings and discoveries.
