Our very own SMBCCS Drill Team can now call themselves “California Elementary Dance/Drill Team Competition Champions”

The California Elementary Dance/Drill Team Competition held at Magic Mountain was an exciting day of thrills and a chance to support the dance teams of the California area. The competition consisted of four divisions and eight categories, ensuring a wide range of age and group sizes for an impressive display of the future of dance in California.

This is one of the most colorful and resounding music and dance events held under the Los Angeles Unified School District’s sponsorship. It has provided a showcase for music and dance teams in the Los Angeles area for over 30 years. It provides a unique opportunity for students to display their school pride and spirit through their field show. This program is run under the umbrella of the LAUSD’s Beyond the Bell program.

The Championships are conducted annually to promote excellence in the educational aspects of drill teams. All groups are adjudicated in the following areas: music performance, general effect and visual performance. The championships also promote greater school, parent and community involvement in school music and dance programs.
